If you have a library card, you can place requests for items which have been checked out.
You can place a request via the Alli collection database, at the circulation desk or by telephone or e-mail. In the e-mail, please include your contact details and details of the item requested.
The request will cover any copies of the title available in the libraries at the Otaniemi campus. If the item has been requested by several users, the requests will be handled in the order of arrival, so that the first returned copy will be given to the user who had placed the earliest request.
When a requested item has been returned, the user with the first request will be sent an item availability notice by e-mail or mail, and will have 7 days to borrow the item before the request expires.
You can place requests free of charge, but if you fail to collect or cancel a requested item within the 7-day period, you will be charged a fee of €2; the fee can be avoided by cancelling the request in time.
Requests for items which have not yet been returned to the library can be cancelled via Alli under ‘patron information' or by contacting the library staff.
Requests for items which have already been returned can only be cancelled by contacting the library staff. If such a request is cancelled via Alli without contacting the library, the €2 fee for uncollected requests will be charged.
The reading-room copies of course books may be requested beforehand for overnight and weekend loans. You can have two concurrent requests for a given item, valid for a maximum of 28 days from the date of placing the request.
