Magnetic keys – terms of use

A patron who borrows a magnetic key agrees to the terms of use. Each unit in the Aalto University School of Science and Technology that has this kind of premises has its own terms that are available at the library as printouts.

The terms of all units essentially are:

  • The keys are meant for personal use only; they must not be given to anyone else even temporarily.
  • Besides the borrower, it is not allowed to let anyone in with the key.
  • In case the key is lost the borrower must immediately notify both the Facility Management and Security unit and the library.
  • The key must be returned if the borrower leaves the university community, or in case the IT Services or Facility Management and Security unit requires so.
  • The borrower must be prepared to prove his/her identity for instance with a student card.

If the rules are not followed the borrower may be demanded to immediately return the key and the deposit may be withheld.

The Facility Management and Security unit may issue deviating directives and instructions. Students are notified of all changes separately.
