Collections and information retrieval
There are publications in the library that cover all fields of the Aalto University Schools of Technology education and research. Academic journals are a vital part of the collections. There are almost 26.000 electronic journals available in the Aalto University network. In printed collections there are text books, classical and up-to-date books about technology and report series among other things. The library acquires all domestic literature of the branch of energy and delivers data of it to the international ETDEWEB database.
The printed and electronic collections are more thoroughly discussed on the Collections page. The Information Retrieval page contains basic information about searching for information as well as the introduction pages for the Nelli portal, the TEEMU collection database, the TENTTU databases and the LINDA union catalogue.
The collections of the libraries of the faculties and departments contain material on specific research fields. The libraries have their premises at the campus.
Since 2000 the library has published doctoral dissertations, master’s and licentiate theses and reports of Helsinki University of Technology in electronic format. From the beginning of 2011 the Otaniemi Campus Library takes care of publishing the doctoral dissertations, master’s and licentiate theses of the Aalto University Schools of Technology (School of Science, School of Engineering, School of Chemical Technology, School of Electrical Engineering) as well as the publications of the Aalto University publication series TIEDE+TEKNOLOGIA, SCIENCE+TECHNOLOGY, and CROSSOVER in electronic format. The information about the master's theses and the licentiate theses can be searched via the INSSI database of the own TENTTU information retrieval system of the library (available only in the Aalto University network and to licensed customers), the dissertations and other own publications of the Schools of Technology are found from the TEEMU collection database of the library (available also from outside the university).
